Rumour Mill: N’Jie Rejected by Spurs

Cameroonian international Clinton N’Jie will not rejoin Spurs this Summer, according to French outlet L’Equipe.

The 23 year old signed for Spurs in 2015, but failed to make an impression at the North-London club in a season hampered by an injury to his medial collateral ligament.

N’Jie spent all of last season on loan at French side Marseille, where the young forward also struggled to show consistent form.

Fans of the French club voted overwhelmingly against the permanent signing of N’Jie in a poll on Le Phoceen, however it appears they may need to get used to seeing him in a Marseille shirt.

According to additional reports from SportWitness and Football.London, Tottenham had the option to overrule Marseille’s decision to sign the youngster and keep him at Spurs.

It has been revealed that Tottenham have rejected the opportunity to do so, effectively allowing N’Jie to join Marseille permanently.

HITC Sport claimed a fee of £5.9 million could see the Cameroonian forward sign for Marseille last month, but any confirmation of a deal is yet to be revealed.

Do you agree with the club’s decision to let N’Jie leave?
