Rumour Mill: SkyBet Tipping Sigurdsson Move To Spurs?

According to SkyBet, Tottenham may be eyeing up a move to resign Iceland international Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Today, Tottenham curiously went from 22/1 to sign the former Spur, to 5/4, implying that Sigurdsson’s return to Tottenham is suddenly much more on the cards.

In spite of this, Everton remain the favourites at 4/5, having been heavily linked with the play-maker’s signature for weeks.

In addition to this, The Independent reckons Tottenham’s social media actions tell even more of the tale, having posted a montage of Sigurdsson’s goals in a Spurs shirt on both Twitter and FaceBook.

The Independent claims this is Tottenham’s way of attempting to subtly hint towards a prospective deal to bring the 27 year old back to the club.

This is a very loose claim however, as Spurs were merely posting the video as a tribute to the fact that it’s 5 years to the day that Sigurdsson officially signed for Tottenham in 2012.

Many times have Tottenham posted similar videos about other players fans have held in high regard even after leaving club, such as Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.

That said, although The Independent’s claim is weak, the SkyBet news is very interesting and this could very well be something to keep our eyes on while the Barkley saga also unfolds later into the window.

Sigurdsson managed 10 goals and 13 assists in 40 appearances in all competitions throughout a very impressive campaign for Swansea City, who flirted with relegation last season.

Who would you rather sign, Barkley or Sigurdsson?
