According to The Express, Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Liverpool over the availability of French defender Mamadou Sakho.
Having spent half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, the future of 27 year old Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho has been subject to speculation.
At Crystal Palace, Sakho was a key figure during the Eagles’ fight for survival and performed so reliably in defence that he was even nominated for Premier League Player of the Month Award in March.
Crystal Palace were expected to retain the services of the 27 year old next season by signing the defender permanently in Summer. However, Liverpool’s £30 million price-tag has made a transfer move impossible for Palace.
Earlier in the month, Steve Parish, Chairman of of Crystal Palace, had this to say on the transfer:
“I think that is going to be a very difficult one for us to do.” Parish told London Evening Standard.
“I think Liverpool want a big number for him. That is a tough one to make happen on a permanent basis.”
According to Vital Spurs, Tottenham have initiated discussions with Liverpool over the availability of Sakho, as the North-London side seek to survey their options ahead of the Summer transfer window.
Though it is expected that Liverpool will ascertain their £30 million estimation of the centre-back, Spurs have not yet made any sort of bid for the Frenchman.
I expect this enquiry has been made just to see what the options are before Poch makes any deals. I wouldn’t expect Spurs to pay out £30 million here. But what do you think? Should we sign him? And for what price?
