Rumour Mill: Spurs End Foyth Interest

According to SkySources, Tottenham Hotspur have officially ended their pursuit of 19 year old Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth.

The Argentinian club are reportedly asking for more than £8 million for the youngster, which Mauricio Pochettino believes would be a drastic over-payment for the teenager’s services.

So far, according to The Evening Standard, Spurs had only been willing to bid £5.4 million up front while offering up to an extra £2.6 million in add-ons, which Estudiantes reportedly rejected.

Yesterday, it was reported by Football.London that French outfit PSG had stolen a march on Spurs in their pursuit of Foyth and had offered to front £8 million for the defender, while Italian clubs Inter Milan and Roma remain linked with the youngster.

In recent weeks, Foyth has revealed that he expects to leave Argentina this Summer though he does not yet know exactly where he will be joining.

We now know that it won’t be Tottenham, as Spurs are unwilling to meet Estudiantes’ price-tag, making PSG firm favourites to land the young defender this Summer.

Austrian international Kevin Wimmer is widely expected to leave Tottenham during the current transfer window, while reported defensive transfer targets Alfie Mawson, Juan Foyth and Matthias Ginter have all seemingly slipped through Spurs’ fingers.

Who would you like to see Tottenham sign as defensive cover this Summer? Or do you think we should sign someone on Toby and Jan’s level for a back three?
