Rumour Mill: Spurs Hijacking Arsenal Deal?

According to The Metro, Arsenal’s plans to sign Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri could be on the brink of ruin with Spurs swooping in for a move.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger and Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis have both been spotted recently in Nice, where it is rumoured they’re making efforts to complete a deal for 25 year old midfielder Jean Michael Seri.

The Ivorian made 39 appearance in all competitions for Nice last season and scored an impressive 7 goals from both central and central defensive midfield. He also chipped in with a further 9 assists.

Arsenal’s deal however may now be on the rocks, with fresh interest from local rivals Spurs being the latest reported development in France.

As reported by GetFootballNewsFrance, Spurs have entered the race to sign the midfielder and have already made contact over availability.

The article claims Tottenham have swiftly opened discussions with Seri and his representatives and have submitted a formal enquiry to Nice over a prospective transfer fee.

Tottenham will be expected to have the transfer edge over Arsenal, having the luxury of Champions League football to tempt Seri away from a move to the Emirates.

On the other hand, Nice seem determined to hold on to their midfield star, having already rejected bids from Roma not once, but twice, with the latest offer of £22 million rejected by the French club.
