Rumour Mill: Spurs Play Waiting Game For Barkley

According to SkySources, Everton attacking midfielder Ross Barkley is indeed a figure of interest at Tottenham, but the North-London club is willing to wait for a better offer.

It is understood that the Merseyside outfit hold the Englishman in high regard, having stamped a £50 million price-tag on young midfielder, who only scored 5 Premier League goals this season.

According to the report on SkySports, Spurs will retain their interest in Barkley up until the deadline on August 31st, in the hopes that either the fee will have dropped dramatically from £50 million by then, or a better alternative will have presented itself.

In the mean-time, it is rumoured Spurs will focus their transfer dealings on the Kyle Walker transfer saga, either bringing in a replacement, or securing the 27 year old’s future at the club.

However, a conflicting report from the Daily Mirror suggests that Spurs have cooled their interest in Barkley altogether and will definitely pursue other targets, despite Barkley having only 12 months left on his contract at Everton.

It seems that for any solid transfer news, we’re going to have to wait a little while longer yet. But how much would you pay for Ross Barkley, ideally? And also, what’s the maximum figure you’d pay?
