Rumour Mill: Spurs Pull Out of Lopez Deal?

According to InsideFutbol.com, Tottenham Hotspur have pulled the plug on a deal for Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

22 year old shot-stopper Pau Lopez joined Spurs on loan on last Summer’s transfer deadline day, but did not make a single appearance for the North-Londoners. However, despite this, Mauricio Pochettino, who worked with the youngster previously at Espanyol, was eager to sign the ‘keeper permanently.

In recent weeks, Spurs had claimed to be confident of wrapping up a deal to sign Lopez this Summer. However now it appears that Tottenham have ended their interest in the goalkeeper.

According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Tottenham have informed Espanyol that they no longer wish to continue with talks, due to the two clubs being unable to agree a fee, despite negotiating for weeks.

Spurs had the option to buy Lopez in January for £7 million, as a part of the original loan deal, but declined to do so. In May, Spurs had offered a figure close to £2 million for the 22 year old, but was rejected by the Spanish club.

It is now likely that Tottenham have ended their interest in Pau Lopez.
