Rumour Mill: Tottenham’s First Signing Complete?

According to Football.London, Tottenham are on the brink of announcing their first signing of the Summer transfer window in the shape of Spanish goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

Lopez joined Spurs on loan last Summer, but failed to make a single senior appearance for the club, settling for the Under 23s instead.

In spite of this, Mauricio Pochettino is determined to bring the 22 year old goalkeeper to Tottenham again this Summer, but this time on a permanent basis.

Previously, it had been reported that Spurs had withdrawn their interest in the shot-stopper, due to being unable to agree a transfer fee with Lopez’s current club Espanyol.

In January, Spurs had the option to sign the ‘keeper for a reported £7 million, but declined to do so in the hopes of snapping up the player on a much cheaper deal.

After having been unwilling to compromise on a lower figure, it appears that Espanyol have now finally reached an agreement with Spurs and according to Spanish outlet Sport, the transfer could be as cheap as £2.1 million.

If this is true, Tottenham will have done well to land a promising young goalkeeper from a club that demanded more than double the now agreed upon price.

Would you be pleased to see him sign? For £2.1 million, I don’t really have any complaints.
