Rumour Mill: United Eyeing Up Barkley?

As the search for factual Tottenham transfer news goes on, The Daily Mirror are continuing with questionable headlines today, suggesting that Manchester United may be about to swoop in for Spurs target Ross Barkley.

So far this Summer, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy has baulked at Everton’s £50 million evaluation of the player, who’s contract at Goodison Park expires next Summer.

The England international has been heavily linked to Tottenham Hotspur throughout the Summer and is widely expected to join Spurs once a compromise between the two clubs is met.

Yet according to The Daily Mirror, Manchester United are willing to meet Everton’s hefty £50 million price-tag, as well as Barkley’s rumoured wage demands of £150,000 per week.

However, The Daily Mirror seem to be well behind the times, given that the story suggesting Barkley wants a higher than Harry Kane was already debunked as false by SkySources yesterday.

Thanks to SkySports, we do know that Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is not yet satisfied with his transfer business, so further signings at Old Trafford should be expected.

In spite of this, it’s the first I’ve heard of Barkley being linked to United so far this Summer, so I think we can all just ignore this as further media antics.

The Daily Mirror seem to have a little knack of fibbing, or exaggerating to say the least, and I’m quite frankly tired of hearing about Manchester United.

I just wish Tottenham would do something sooner or later, so that I have something decent to report on, instead of the media’s obsession with the Red Devils.
