Saints seek Walker-Peters loan

According to The Sun, Southampton are ready to swoop for Kyle Walker-Peters before the deadline closes on Wednesday.

Saints coach Mauricio Pellegrino wants cover for Cedric Soares and has the article says he has our young full-back in his sights on a loan deal.

It goes on to say that Spurs could consider allowing the England Under-21 right-back a short-term move as Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier are ahead of the youngster in the pecking order.

The article goes on to say how the 20-year-old made a dream debut on the opening weekend of the season when he was man-of-the-match in the victory over Newcastle, adding how he also came off the bench against Huddersfield in the Prem – but his other matches have been in cups or Europe.

He was rewarded for breaking into the first team squad this season with a new deal to keep him at Spurs until 2020.

The defender of course started the FA Cup draw at Newport as a left wing-back but was substituted at half-time in a tactical change as we chased the game.

It goes on to say that Mauricio Pochettino rates his Academy product highly and will weigh up whether a loan move will best help his development adding that Swansea were also looking at Walker-Peters but Southampton are ahead of them in the queue.
