Sherwood the future? You’re having a laugh!

Watching Tottenham’s lacklustre display against Norwich City on Sunday, I couldn’t help but think that Tim Sherwood’s luck has finally ran out and he is completely out of his depth as Spurs manager, there was absolutely no urgency, no character, no pace and no balance to our team, all I saw was sideways and backwards passing which inevitably went back to Dawson who blasted aimless long balls forward which almost always fell to a Norwich defender.

Fair play to Norwich, as their pressing game offered us little time on the ball, I myself just cannot understand why we don’t adopt a pressing game ourselves in an effort to win the ball back quickly in dangerous areas?, our play was so careless and static, dwelling on the ball with heads down, no movement from the front and often no commitment to win the ball back when a pass goes astray, our slow build up play exposes us to teams that press hard, and when we lose the ball it leads to dangerous counter attacks, this is the main reason for all the thrashings we have received this season. Tim has now had enough time to implement his ideas/style of play, and I am not impressed, our recent good form in the Premier League owes a lot to luck and the good form of Lloris and Adebayor.

Tim has inherited a squad which is ridiculously overloaded in central midfield area (Thank you Levy/Baldini/AVB), and consequently Tim selected four central midfielders in his line up on Sunday, while leaving our most creative central midfielder “Eriksen” on the bench !, I thought that Sherwood was AVB in disguise the way he set up the team, Norwich are a side who lack goals and are short on confidence, and we should have set ourselves up to attack as an early goal would have put us in the driving seat. Sherwood cannot complain about his team making slow starts as he is not exactly setting up his team to attack?, we stepped out on to the pitch knowing that all of our rivals won, so where was the motivation?, where was the will to succeed, the buck stops with Tim I’m afraid.

Now that our Champions League aspirations are all but over, I fear our season could fizzle out badly, especially if we get knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday, or maybe it’s finally dawned on Tim that Van Gaal will be replacing him in the summer!, this is another fine mess that Daniel Levy has got us into!, we seem to always be tantalisingly close to achieving success only to then shoot ourselves in the foot!, It’s typical Spurs, for there can be no true despair without a little hope!.
