Spurs and Manchester United at odds over Alderweireld valuation

According to the London Evening Standard talks between Manchester United and Tottenham over a deal for Toby Alderweireld have reached an impasse.

United remain confident they can sign the centre half but talks are deadlocked with Spurs asking for in excess of the £55m fee United thought would seal the deal with United’s position is strengthened by the fact Spurs are keen on Anthony Martial, who has become unsettled at Old Trafford under manager Mourinho.

The Frenchman made just 18 League starts last term and Tottenham’s interest could help the clubs reach a compromise with United already prepared to hand Alderweireld a five-year contract and a salary far in excess of Tottenham’s last offer of around £120,000 a week.

The article goes on to say that Spurs are ready to sell the 29-year-old Belgium star for the right price. His contract expires in 2020 but the defender can leave for just £25m next year if no fresh terms are agreed.
