Spurs battle for £20m West Ham defender

Tottenham are plotting a £20million move for West Ham star Arthur Masuaku, according to talkSPORT.

The 24-year-old, who can play at either full-back or wing-back, has been in decent form for the Hammers following his move from Greek side Olympiacos for £6.2m in in 2016.

He has made a total of 27 appearances for east London club this season, scoring one goal against Bolton in the EFL Cup.

The article goes on to say that he has also attracted the interest of Chelsea and Monaco but, according to The Sun, Tottenham who have shown the most interest in the versatile Frenchman.

The report adds that though he is happy at the London Stadium,he is keen to play Champions League football so would be open to leaving.

It adds that Hammers boss David Moyes is expected to fight hard to keep him at the club especially if they stay in the Premier League but it goes on to say that Tottenham will look to use the French-born defender to fill the void left by Danny Rose, should the England international leave at the end of the season.

Rosw was linked with a move to Manchester United in 2017 and the hierarchy at Old Trafford are set to reignite their interest this summer.

The article goes on to say that Masuaku is not the only left-back on Spurs’ shortlist, as we are also monitoring Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand.

The Saints are in a relegation dogfight in the Premier League and the former Chelsea youngster is prepared to leave the south coast whether they stay up or not.

It’s that Spurs will have competition, though, with Newcastle and Everton also interested in the £25million-rated star.
