Spurs bracing themselves for Chelsea Alderweireld bid

According to The Sun the club are bracing themselves for a bid for Toby Alderweireld from bitter rivals Chelsea

The report says the £45million-rated Belgium centre-back is wanted at Stamford Bridge in a summer move after failing to agree a new deal at Spurs.

It goes on to say that the two clubs must put aside years of bad blood, which started when Chelsea pinched Director of Football Frank Arnesen from White Hart Lane in 2005, to get a deal done.

Alderweireld is firmly on the radar at Stamford Bridge says the report that despite the history meaning the rivals rarely do business.

Toby has only has a season left on his deal at Spurs and is still regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League and viewed as a bargain at his price.

Champions Manchester City were tracking him before moving for Aymeric Laporte in January – and Manchester United have looked at him too.

However the article says that Chelsea will offer make him the cornerstone of their defence as they look to rebuild next season.

If Spurs are to part with the Belgian it will have to be this summer otherwise the coveted star will be available for as little as £25m because of a clause in his current deal and with his lack of playing time it looks like he will depart this summer.Spurs are lining up a £45m swoop for Dutch teen sensation Matthijs de Ligt as a replacement.

I’m sure Spurs would be loathe to sell Alderweireld to Chelsea but unfortunately that may have to happen as surely the highest bidder will get their hands on him this season.

Would you refuse to do business with Chelsea or is it a case of whoever bids most gets him as surely it looks like he is on his way out of Hotspur Way. Let us know your thoughts
