Spurs confident Eriksen will sign new deal

According to an article by ESPN Tottenham are confident of agreeing a new deal with Christian Eriksen before the start of next season.

The article says that talks over a new deal for Eriksen have been ongoing for some time with Spurs keen to secure Eriksen’s future however it does add that according to reports in Spain Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring Eriksen’s situation and are ready to pounce for him this summer.

The instrumental Dane still has two years to run on his current deal and the club remain optimistic that the midfielder will sign a new deal to extend his stay in North London.

The Spurs hierarchy plan to try and tie down a number of their stars to new contracts following the news of Mauricio Pochettino’s new deal and they feel keeping Pochettino will boost their chances of players following suit before the start of the 2018-19 season.

The article adds that Eriksen is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League since joining Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2013 with 26-year-old instrumental in helping Spurs finish in the top four for a third consecutive season this term, scoring 14 goals and registering 13 assists in all competitions.
