Spurs eyeing German World Cup winner

According to an article in London’s Metro newspaper Spurs could take advantage of Mario Gotze’s uncertain future at Borussia Dortmund and move for the Germany World Cup winner in the summer transfer window.

The article claims Spurs are monitoring Gotze’s availability in the off-season, with the possibility that the star could be available for as little as £16m.

Gotze’s career has stalled since scoring the winning goal in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina and he was left out of his country’s squad for this summer’s finals in Russia.

He’s also had a bit of a fall from grace at club level making just 19 Bundesliga starts last term for Dortmund and has dropped down the pecking order so a summer departure is a real possibility.

The article adds that he wants to move to the Premier League and with Tottenham having a long-term interest in Gotze it could be a natural move for the attacking midfielder.

Spurs have yet to add to their squad this summer since the end of the Premier League season,m and ahead of the move to our new stadium, the article says it remains to be seen how much money Pochettino is permitted to invest in the playing squad as Tottenham plot a way of breaching the gap to the Manchester clubs.
