Spurs look to Benfica defender

According to reports in Portugal claim that Tottenham are willing to spend €30m on Benfica left back Alejandro Grimaldo, in order to bring the Spaniard to north London.

Portuguese publication Record says the possibility of signing the Spanish U21 international is dependant on the future of Danny Rose as question marks remain over the 27-year-old’s future at Hotspur Way.

The report goes on to say that should Rose depart then Grimaldo remains a viable option for Mauricio Pochettino to replace him. The article adds that Spurs have the financial clout to meet aforementioned buyout clause set by club president Luis Felipe Vieira.

Spurs however face competition from  Napoli for the former Barcelona man.

Grimaldo arrived at the Estadio da Luz in January 2016, has gone on to make 63 appearances for the Lisbon-based side,winning two league titles, a Portuguese Cup and League Cup.
