Spurs: No NFL talks

Tottenham have insisted they have not held talks over potentially sharing their new stadium with an NFL franchise based in London.

The Daily Telegraph reported on Saturday that the NFL is interested in such an arrangement, which would help Spurs finance the move, but a spokesman told Press Association Sport there have not been any discussions as yet.

Planning permission for the new ground, with an intended capacity of 56,250, was granted in July and the club are aiming to relocate in time for the 2018/19 season.

Wembley has hosted NFL games since 2007, which have proved very successful, and a team based in Britain has been mooted for some time.

Damage to the pitch has been an issue, though, with England boss Roy Hodgson complaining about the playing surface after two NFL games were played at Wembley ahead of a Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia.
