Spurs to face wounded City

Star striker Sergio Aguero is out of Manchester City’s trip to Wembley on Saturday, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.

Aguero came off the bench late on in City’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool on Tuesday, but Guardiola has since revealed Aguero was not fully fit and was still feeling pain in his knee following a heavy challenge from Ashley Young in the Manchester derby.

“He cannot play tomorrow,”:said Guardiola.”After the tackle from Ashley Young in the derby he felt pain in his knee.He made an amazing effort to come on against Liverpool but he wasn’t ready to start that game.

Guardiola added: “I don’t know [when he will be back]. We cannot forget he was one month injured,.
“He made a huge effort, after young tackle from Ashley Young, but the problem with knee meant he could not train. He played the last 20 minutes and then said he couldn’t run. I don’t know about Swansea, but hopefully for the last games and then the World Cup.”

With Aguero, John Stones and Benjamin Mendy injured, and Fernandinho suspended, City’s squad will be stretched for the trip to Wembley.
