Striker in London for Spurs talks

Reports today claim that Spurs have been granted permission to speak to AZ Alkmaar striker Vincent Janssen.

According to the press reports, Janssen who bagged 27 goals in 34 matches in the Eredivisie last season arrived in London yesterday to begin contract negotiations with Spurs despite the fact that a transfer fee is yet to be agreed.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable rise to fame in Holland after , joining AZ only last summer after he scored 19 times for Almere City in the Dutch second division.

He has since gone on to play five times for the senior Dutch team and also scored for their Under-21’s in a 2-1 win against England at Wembley earlier this year.

A fee of £12million is rumoured to be what AZ are holding out for with performance-related add-ons said to be taking up most of the negotiating.

There’s no doubt that we need to take the burden off Harry Kane from scoring the majority of our goals, but is Janssen the answer?
