The rise of Davison Sanchez

Davinson Sanchez has enjoyed an excellent first season for the club since his big money move from Ajax

The Colombian is now regarded as one of the most valuable defenders in world football, after his stellar showings in his first season for Spurs

He arrived last summer and because of key injuries, especially to Toby Alderweireld, he has had to adapt immediately to Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and he has coped well during his first season in English football.

Apart from the occasional lapse in concentration he has looked assured at the heart of Spurs’ defence, and at the age of 21, he still has plenty of time to develop.

And now according to the CIES Football Observatory his value has sky rocketed to £74 million.

The Football Observatory collate data on performance and reputation to create a value for every player across Europe and Sanchez is now ranked among the elite of defenders across the world.

Of course, there is no suggestion that we have any interest in selling Sanchez, But the centre-back’s increasing price-tag is further proof of just how well he has performed in his first term in England, and Spurs should feel his transfer has become a possible bargain for the club in under 12 months.
