Is Tottenham’s Season Over? – FAR FROM IT: A comparison of Spurs’ last three end-of-season run-ins

With all the upheaval this season many Spurs fans fear for the worse and thoughts of bygone days make us wonder what the future holds.

Many are now questioning the lack of stability and class the club has shown over the last few years with yet more managers coming and going along with the constant turnover of players.

Levy’s financial trickery to fund a new training ground and a new stadium has come at a cost.

Yet a looking at the facts show the race for 4th place is far from over.

Last season Spurs finished with a record points total – 72 points. At the same stage, match 24 AVB’s side had 42 points. Our current total of 44 points puts us ahead of last season.

The team finished strongly last season, here’s how it went:

It looks about even, maybe even a little easier with both games against Man City now behind us.

No reason to think we can’t get a decent points return here, only 3-4 tough games and while we have had a tough time against City and Liverpool under Sherwood we have attacked lesser teams and more often than not got all three points

So not all doom and gloom. On the negative side we go into the last 14 games without Gareth Bale, but on the positive side our team is returning to full strength and this season while many new signings haven’t delivered we can hope for contribution from Erikson, Paulinho, Townsend and a in form Adebeyor are all extras we did have last season.

So was it all better under Harry 2 years ago?

Well kind of, we were in a much better place after 24 games with 50 points. But then look what happened over the 10 games, only 8 more points.

Liverpool have fourth place right now, but their run in is harder than ours and they are highly exposed to injuries to either Suarez or Sturridge who have scored 37 of Liverpool’s 55 Premier League goals.

I can’t imagine you’ll find too many Liverpool or Man United fans rock solid in the belief 4th place is theirs.

So despite everything it’s all still to play for so we can look forward to an exciting finish to the season.

Just think what Spurs could do if we just managed to keep some stability!
