We were all so looking forward to the return of the Premier League after the international break, but it is fair to say that it was an afternoon to forget for Tottenham Hotspur following the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were second best in every department from the first whistle. Every time Liverpool won the ball, they looked likely to cut through us and create an opportunity.

Tottenham are known for their high pressing style, but Liverpool did this to us. Michel Vorm will receive most of the negative headlines and rightly so, however, apart from a couple of players we were below par all over the pitch.

Erik Lamela grabbed a late consolation in injury time, but it was exactly that. Although we were denied an absolute stonewall penalty when Son was felled in the area.
