Playmaker blow for Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that they will be without playmaker Christian Eriksen for the trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The midfielder was absent from last night’s Carabao Cup third round win against Watford, with some fans having assumed he was being rested alongside the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane.

Spurs have now confirmed that Eriksen is undergoing rehab for an abdomen injury and will be sidelined, no estimated return date has been revealed.

Elsewhere, club captain Hugo Lloris is still out with a thigh issue and is currently continuing on-field conditioning as part of his recovery plan. Michel Vorm has not recovered in time from a knee problem he picked up in training before the Brighton fixture, while Serge Aurier hobbled off with a thigh strain after 81 minutes of last night’s win.

The club confirmed the injury update via their official Twitter account:
