Pundit claims player may run down Spurs contract for ‘dream’ move

Former Premier League footballer Danny Mills has claimed that Christian Eriksen may be prepared to run down his contract at Tottenham Hotspur.

Eriksen revealed just days after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool that he wanted to depart North London this summer to seek a new challenge whilst also inviting interest from Real Madrid to make contact with (Ekstra Bladet).

A move to the Spanish giants has yet to emerge and the Dane found himself on the names among the substitutes for the Premier League opener against Aston Villa.

His introduction on 64 minutes helped to change the course of the game with his side coming from a goal down to win 3-1.

Mills has claimed that if Eriksen has his heart set in a move to the La Liga outfit then he may sit tight at Tottenham until the end of the campaign until his contract expires before getting the move he craves.

Mills told Football Insider: “Is he prepared to stay there? That may well be the case – sit it out for a season and go on a free.

“I think he would be prepared to wait, as we’ve seen with Eden Hazard and Luka Modric in the past, if your heart is set on Real Madrid and they want you, he may well be prepared to stay for another 12 months. That would be his dream move.”
