Report: Pochettino’s entourage ‘strongly rejected’ contact with Daniel Levy

L’Equipe have reported today that Mauricio Pochettino’s entourage ‘strongly rejected’ any contact with Tottenham’s Daniel Levy, despite recent reports (as relayed by Sport Witness).

This comes despite the fact that both The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke and Football.London’s Alasdair Gold reported that Spurs had held a meeting with the Argentine.

The Sun also claimed that Pochettino was keen on a return to North London as he is currently unhappy at PSG.

L’Equipe report that a source within Pochettino’s team rejected these claims, although two other sources claimed there was a phone call between Levy and the Argentine.

One source said: “Daniel Levy knows that, in the face of his unpopularity, he doesn’t have much choice. And he is ready to make lots of concessions. Bringing back Pochettino, very popular, could allow him to come out of the crisis from the top.”

It is said that Levy believes Pochettino could go some way to fixing his current unpopularity with Spurs fans, and the chairman is willing to make ‘lots of concessions’ to get the former head coach back. Compensation is said to be a possibility, but not a huge sum.

There are also said to be ‘slight concerns’ within PSG about how settled Pochettino is because he is still living in a hotel and his relationship with Leonardo is not perfect.
