Spurs star reveals he wants to remain in England amid talk over his future

Kieran Trippier has revealed that he wants to continue to play his football in the Premier League with increasing uncertainty regarding this future at Tottenham Hotspur.

The right-back has been heavily linked with a move away from the club with Italian outfit Napoli having previously been linked with a move (Gazzetta dello Sport).

Trippier has struggled at the North London club this season having experienced indifferent form which has led to him making some high profile defensive mistakes against Arsenal, Chelsea and Ajax.

The Daily Mail claim that Tottenham are willing to allow the former Burnley man to leave the club this summer, with Trippier insisting that his future lies in the hands of his employer.

After starring at the World Cup for England last summer, his fortunes have taken a significant nose dive in the past twelve months which have culminated in him being dropped from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for this week’s Nations League finals in Portugal.

He told the Daily Mail: ‘I want to stay in England. But what can you do?’ he added. ‘I’ll see what happens and what the club wants, most importantly.

‘I give everything for this club – training sessions, games – so we’ll see what happens in pre-season.’

Opinion

Trippier’s form has been well below the standard expected this season but you have to feel some sympathy for the player who has had his fair share of injury issues. His tearful exchange with the Spurs faithful in Madrid showed that he cares about the club yet, unfortunately, it just hasn’t worked out for him.
