Tottenham Hotspur could be set to receive a welcome cash windfall following the news that Marcus Edwards could be on the move.

Portuguese news outlet A Bola claim that Sporting are keen to sign the Vitória Guimarães midfielder this summer with talks said to be at an early stage.

Edwards left North London to join the Primeira Liga outfit in the summer of 2019 on a free transfer with Tottenham having a clause inserted to receive 50 per cent of his next transfer fee (The Sun).

The report claims that Sporting could be set to land the 22-year-old, who has a transfer release clause of £41million for a fee in the region of £11.5million which would net Daniel Levy around £6million.

Edwards made 36 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring three goals and providing a further three assists (transfermarkt).

Despite the hype about his potential, the England Under-20 international made just one senior appearance in Spurs colours which against Gillingham in the EFL Cup in September 2016.
