I hope that it will become clear that Levy's position is untenable and that his relations with supporters have irreconcilable differences. Although they may have underestimated the objections supporters would have to the Super League, they simply didn't care what supporters felt in the first place. They knew that the supporters would hate the idea but that they'd be forced to accept it because they have no choice. The common rabble are really no concern to them.

I agree about the friendship being needed but it must always be mixed with respect for your position. This was obviously the case with yourself by the fact you posted "but I was always in charge". You were mates but when it was time to 'call the shots' they recognised and accepted that you were the guy to do it. Maybe Ryan can enjoy the same relationship. I worked in a bank for many years and their attitude was totally different. Every time someone was promoted they were moved to another branch because Head Office thought staff would find it difficult to accept someone from their previous ranks now telling them what to do. That's why I left, I turned down a promotion because it meant moving to the coast to live and work when there was exactly the same position available at my home branch. It was ludicrous that I had to find lodgings 60 miles away because they felt my work mates might not accept me in my new role. So I told them to stuff it and went to work in a brewery.... much more fun

I can't argue with how you managed as it obviously worked. There are always exceptions to anything in life. I hope you are right about Ryan. COYS

Let's hope that once a new manager is appointed and it becomes a bit clearer concerning which players will be leaving and who will be coming in next season that this football club will begin to behave in a similar fashion to your 'dicky ticker' and both will start to settle down nicely. That way everybody will be ready for the Summer break and a new title challenge.

This weekend West Ham are away to Everton. If they lose and we win then finishing above them is in our hands. With Chelsea having a tough run in with games against City, Arsenal and Leicester, we wil be able to hold out hope for 4th As we all know, for the last 2 or 3 decades, being a Spurs fan has been traumatic with a dearth of "ups" and a plethora of "downs". I have ordered my valium already, with my dicky ticker, I can't take any chances. COYS

Mourinho to take over at Roma

Roma have appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager. In a statement the club said: “The club are delighted to announce an agreement has been reached with Jose Mourinho for him to become our new head coach ahead of the 2021-22 season.” Roma had earlier announced that current head coach Paulo Fonseca will leave at the end of the season.

I wonder if the impending return of fans at the Cup final had a role in the decision. I am sure that Levy knew fans would take whole season's frustrations out on Jose at the Cup final if Jose were still in place. I'm certain that would have made a negative impact on the players and been a very public embarrassment for the club as well. He should have been sacked weeks ago but the prospect of sending him out in front of the fans at the Cup final was more than Levy was willing to risk.

I was only able to see the first hour of the Sheffield United match as I'm in the middle of a long-distance move right now, but the difference in the team is palpable. They have some personnel that aren't good enough, sure, but there's a better team selection and more attacking flair. We really want for a player like Eriksen but I believe we are perfectly capable of taking the 12 points that are still in front of us.

Dont agree with your points there. I was a manager, very succesful, and mates with my workers, and we succeeded together but I was always in charge, but they all also had their own decisions to live and die by, we need players on pitch each one of them a leader not waiting for guidance, why do you think theyre all playing for him already, City didnt let us play but they still only scored 1 against us and we could have done something with a bit better decision making (Kane-Hjolberg) , but Sunday was freedom , albeit V a defeated Sheff Utd , we closed down like we used to, hunted in packs, made mistakes and battled to rectify them You can be mates and a boss

    European Super league

Spurs Trust rejects Daniel Levy's offer of a meeting : https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham-daniel-levy-meeting-resignation-b933138.html https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11675/12296566/tottenham-fans-turn-down-daniel-levy-meeting-and-demand-replacement-of-executive-board Totally agree that any fines imposed on Spurs in relation to this Super League fiasco should be paid by ENIC and nothing to do with the club's finances. Their mess so they can pay the cleaning bill.

Completely agree. Whilst Ryan may still wish to be regarded as 'one of the boys' it simply doesn't work in the manager/player relationship. There always has to be that little bit of distance that allows for a friendly relationship but maintains a level of respect for his position as team coach. The only other reason I can think of for him requesting they continue to call him Ryan or Mase is that he is 100% certain that come the end of this season he will be back as the head of player development. If that is the case then I can understand his wish not to receive a temporary title as he knows in a few weeks things will be back to normal for him and a new manager will have been appointed. I do struggle in comparing what has happened to Mourinho and Poch. José had obviously been planned because the announcement was the day after Poch was sacked. This time we have the sacking and an interim manager put in. My only conclusion is that Levy was aware of just how toxic José was making the dressing room atmosphere and knew the number of players planning on leaving if he continued in his job. This may well have been after Daniel had some private chats with squad members and realised he was facing a possible mutiny before the Summer transfer window. So he dismissed the Special One immediately and hoped that putting a familiar face like Ryan in his place would help calm the waters and hopefully motivate everyone into winning ways over the last few weeks of the season. Has Daniel told Ryan to enjoy his moment of fame but not get too comfortable in the Manager's chair ? or is he still struggling to find a replacement and could consider RM as a full time Head Coach if we get top four ?. One thing is vital, whoever is to be in charge permanently needs to be here making transfer decisions during the next window in order to impose his presence and style of play upon the club. The date of that window is still to be announced. Interesting times. PS. Blimey James you must be bored stiff in that hospital reading last Saturday's Sun on a Tuesday morning mate

I have just read in Saturday's Sun newspaper that he has told the players to stop calling him Gaffa but to call all him what they have in the last 5 to 10 years - Ryan or Mase. Big mistake, Sunshine. They have to look upon you as the boss and not a mate. In my humble opinion, he has given away his authority and set himself up to getting into arguments. If he is given the job full time and he has lost a bit of authority to some of the senior players, he will make himself unpopular if then insist they call him Gaffa or boss. He needs to be in charge in a firm and fair manner and that will gain him their respect COYS

Come on PSG come on Poch

Let's hope Poch can bring the Manchester City juggernaut to a juddering halt tonight and once again deny Pep the elusive CL trophy. Still rumours of fitness doubts over Mbappe, who has the ability to be a game changer in these sorts of matches, but I have a sneaky suspicion that it's just mind games and he'll play. This is the 'business' end of the season now and PSG will be demanding success. Failure to make it to the final and to miss out on a league title may be enough to make Mbappe and Neymar consider a move. Should all of that happen then Poch would surely begin to come under pressure. Whilst the financial rewards for winning titles/trophies is high the demands of such clubs are equally as huge and the manager is constantly under pressure and scrutiny from both his board and supporters. It should be a wonderful game of football this evening and I hope we see Poch kneeling once again on the pitch, crying and celebrating a great victory.

That's certainly true. Few are surprised, it was, for me, so frustrating. Seeing how we played against manu and others, why did M change it ? Losing out in the Europa league was just ridiculous.... Hey ho, he's gone now, let's move on, get this season over and start again... I really am looking forward to getting to the ground again and meeting up with my THFC supporting Buddies of 40 years (we went to the 1980/81 Finals.....)

Come on PSG come on Poch

As a Poch fan, I would love him to win the CL. My own view is that he made a big error by not being interested in the FA an League Cups. I would like to think he has learned from that and now has a better understanding of the relationship he must have with the fans. Sadly, in this cut throat world of soccer management, PSG is one of the really ruthless clubs in Europe. If he gets sacked, his time at Southampton will be forgotten, and he wil be remembered as some one who has failed with 2 top clubs (well, Spurs are around the 5th richest with the best stadium) and have been the leading club in Europe when European games started. Stuck in this ruddy hospital, I am missing all these games. Grrrr COYS
