Never heard of him. This is no indication of his quality, but it does mean he has no premier league experience. Scoring in another league is very different to the prem - as we've seen with many players at Spurs despite all the big hype beforehand. I'd much rather we paid a bit more for some solid experience - either Berahino or Austin for me. I will 100% support this guy if he joins Spurs, but I fear he will languish on the bench and end up going out on loan before too long.

Annoying in one way but not one that we need to shift. Happy to have him stay in the squad. Not likely to get huge amounts of game time but I don't see him causing trouble. You only need a few injuries or some good cup runs and the squad is needed.

This is exactly the sort of sentiment I was thinking of going for in my card to him. You've captured it well here.

Just a thought on Adebayor. If all of us - everyone on the forum here - put a quid in, we could buy him a card and write a message to f*ck off.

So we've formally and finally bid £15m for Berahino, which WBA have publicly turned down. I'd be happy if we get him. As said before he has experience of playing with Kane at U21 level, has a pedigree of goals in the Prem League, is young, pacey, works hard and plays anywhere across the front line. He could support Kane, or be an alternative for a Plan B. He is good enough for us and I think he'd add loads to the squad, alongside N'Jie. There is no guarantee WBA will agree to a sale, even at a higher price. We may also see other clubs come in, although of the leading Prem contenders, realistically it's only likely to be ManUtd who also need a striker at this stage. Let's hope this is a deal we can get done and quickly. I am not confident though as I hate the way it's already playing out in the media.

How much money have we collectively lost? As a shareholder I demand some clawback of Baldini's pay and bonuses! No doubt some of the players will do better at other clubs, but dreadful transfers at Spurs.

Royce - not sure on Lucas. Don't generally like taking cast-offs from so-called near rivals, but that might just be me! Do we know why Liverpool deemed him surplus to requirements? From what I saw, he seemed to be an effective and steady player. Not the quickest, but did his job. Agree he could do ok for us and I'd really like someone to come in with some PL grit and experience. If only we had Scotty Parker back in his prime!

    Good! Now onto Berahino please

I see the West Brom deal for Rondon is confirmed at club record £12m. Hopefully this opens up the possibility of us getting Berahino for similar money. I'm sure Rondon has potential, but I just want a goal scorer with Premier League experience to come in, not nrcessarily for huge money. I see plenty of goal scorers at other clubs, none of whom have to be world class to put the ball away. Just get a consistent performer in who can add to the squad and take chances. Someone who can play instead of Kane when needed, or alongside him to give us a different formation when the match is there to be won. Berahino would fit the bill for me, as would Austin.

    Spurs vs MU

Very sloppy performance. Nothing much in it. Poor start.

Yes - good play and possession. Then sloppy.

    Spurs vs MU

Bad news with Lloris and Rose out. Unsure about Dier in the middle. MU have lots of new faces though, so maybe they won't click.

    Spurs vs MU

Man Utd XI: Romero; Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw; Carrick, Memphis, Schneiderlin; Mata, Rooney, Young. Spurs XI: Vorm, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Bentaleb Dier, Chadli, Eriksen, Dembele, Kane. Hmm.

I'd be happy with Austin, Berahino or Chicarito as options in the squad. None are exactly perfect, but all would be 'good enough' as they bring experience but young enough to improve further with coaching. We need someone in ASAP. In other news, Wilshere out for 8 weeks with a broken right ankle. Poor old biscuit bones!

How on Earth do you know that? Might be just paper talk. If true then sounds a bit silly.

I would be happy with Austin. I think he would be a dependable and reliable centre forward at Spurs. Has prem league experience and scored a decent amount of goals in a poor side last season. Could see him working hard and getting stuck in. Wouldn't cost a huge sum either, so lower risk. Let's get the deal done as time is running out. COYS

Really? I'd much rather keep Rose. He was a good player last season, had the odd lapse, but will only get better and more consistent with time. We also need some stability in our back four given the new signings. I hope we don't sell and that he starts on Saturday.

Would be very happy with Berahino as a Spurs player. Young, confident, quick, scores premier league goals and already has a working partnership with Kane from England U21. Get him in! I think West Brom have signed Lambert, so they will surely sell. Can't see a better option to be honest.

Very pleased Vlad has gone. Just looked totally out of his depth in the Premier League. Whoever signed him or scouted him needs to have a serious word with themselves.

    Latest rumours

I'm getting worried now. No news about closing the deal with Adebayor, that's two more days of his wages we've wasted money on! Not too bothered if Townsend ends up staying. I do think he can do a job off the bench (as per England duty) and I would probably stick with him one more season unless there is definitely a better option.

Positive thinking Royce! I agree. I also think we've strengthened the side in the summer. Hopefully Levy will shift a few more players on soon and ideally we will land the additional quality/reliable striker we need. I'd be happy if that player is Berahino, he fits the bill for me. We shall see if the squad is good enough to press on this season. Teams around us have improved on paper, but I'm not writing us off before a ball is kicked. It is very easy to assume big spending ManU or Liverpool will be far ahead of us, but I'm not so sure. COYS

So we are agreed then! Berahino it is. Or maybe Dzeko. Probably not Austin. Definitely not Cissoko!
  23. BlockFeet

    Latest rumours

Lots of paper talk today about Spurs bidding for Berahino. What do people think? It's clear we need a striker, regardless of whether Soldado and Ade are sold or loaned out, but is he a good choice? I like the idea. There were stories of some attitude issues, but he is young, has good potential, some Prem League experience and played with Kane at Eng U21 level.
  24. BlockFeet

    Latest rumours

Let's hope that Vertonghen and Alderweirald form a really solid partnership and show some much needed leadership at the back. With Dier and Wimmer both having great potential and Fazio (if he stays) providing additional cover - it finally looks on paper like the CB role is sorted for a few seasons.

Agree Kaboul was a good player on his day - but seemed to lose pace and confidence after a series of injuries, then stayed out of the team. Good luck to him, and thanks for being a Spurs player, good for both parties that he's moved on. Now, can we please pick a Club Captain who is actually playing in the side regularly???
