Euro U21 Champs

The senior side don't know how to pass and move either, they all stand around like gnomes ....... Basically we are fooked and i can see something bad happening in this WC qualifing campaign. My tip is Ukraine to finish top of our group now after they went to Montengro on Friday and trashed them 4-0 and they still have to play San Marino twice !!!! Bye bye WC 2014.

Coudn't agree more with some of the comments made here about the state of English football, but this also made me consider something else.

If you look at the thread 'players to get Rid' almost all who have contributed want to get rid of at least 3 english players out of the five chosen! What does this say?

I'm not Stuart Pearce's biggest fan, but the FA are the biggest idiots going and let me explain.

This was a big tournament for our young players, as most of you are probably thinking a great way to gain experience right? More meaningful than a friendly in Brazil? But it appears not...

Walker, Jones, Ox, Wellbeck, Wilshere, Cleverly, Shaw all should be playing for the under 21's, some where injured others chosen by the first team which is a lack of respect for the tournament. Our young players need that experience, it's vital for our growth and development, but what it says is how desperate we are needing to call up under 21 players that hardly play senior football.

Tom Carroll doesn't deserve a call up, he hardly played last season, but he's definitely good enough. Pearce didn't even know who he was, nor did any of his advisers at the FA, Sherwood had to explain to them all about him. This quote from 2011 sums Pearce up and why he shouldn't be in charge of youth development and under 21's....let alone coaching.

Pearce acknowledged England did not do themselves justice on Sunday but insisted that did not mean they should throw out the baby with the bath water.

He said: "I'm not going to get washed away by the fact Spain had 59% of possession - that will happen when we play Spain at any level, from under-17s to senior level, and in 50 years' time we'll be sitting here having the same conversation.

"But what you can't lose sight of is the individual strengths and trends of each nation at tournaments such as this. We all have our DNA as nations, whether you're Spanish, Italian, English, German. We all play in a certain way that the public demands in that country and probably the breeding and the climate that you train in as well.

"We have to learn lessons from other nations and try to learn lessons from them to improve us but never lose sight of the DNA of our nation, and the strengths of our individual players. The strengths are they never ever throw the towel in and we use that as a strength.

"But you've also got to use the other aspects of the game as well.''

Pearce refused to confirm whether captain Michael Mancienne - or any of his players - would play in the second match. But it would appear Jack Rodwell is in line for a recall after impressing from the bench on Sunday.

The goalkeeper and back four look assured of their places, as do Jordan Henderson, Daniel Sturridge and Danny Welbeck. That would leave Mancienne, Cleverley, Fabrice Muamba, Marc Albrighton, Danny Rose and Scott Sinclair to compete for the final two spots depending on form and tactics.

Pearce + FA = Recipe for Disaster.

This bullshit of were English so it's in our DNA to lump it and run around like headless chickens is the reason why the Premier League still doesnt attract players with good technique.

A great example is how Hudd is exposed for his lack of running power, someone like Pirlo wouldn't get as much time on the ball, but they play the game at the speed they think is suitable for themselves and for their teammates.

Playing in the Prem, it is harder for Hudd to play slower (someone mentioned he should play in Italy) but the different dimension he brings  and the fact that he can pass short and long with both feet is a better substitute to another midfielder having to carry the ball across in order to switch play.

The Pirlo masterclass against England last year in the Euro's proves that if you have players on the same wavelength then you will get more out of them than having 5 midfielders running around like idiots.

If you don't master the ball, the ball will master you, as England find out in every major tournament.

Anyone watch the Spain-Italy Final?  Hasn't MU signed the hat trick hero? We've all had it if they have. Isco to M City????  Quality side Spain. We are so far behind their class we'll never catch up.
