Poch

Recommended Posts

If i could find my 'Poch out'  thread of a few months ago it would be resurrected.

Listen, enough is enough, he hasn't a fucking clue. This is going to be our worse points total since 2008.

Tactically he is rubbish. 4-2-3-1 every game. If we are losing he brings Soldado on, often for 10 minutes or less. Today it was Dembele on as sub. improvement? Why are players who are woefully out of form still playing? Eriksen, Mason, Chiriches. Before that it was Adebayor! He has totally cut off 3 players. We criticized a previous manager for doing that to one player.  What was wrong with Rose today, he was on subs bench so was fit! His season has been bailed out by a purple patch youngster in Kane. Without him and Lloris we would be in deep shit. Stambouli, Poch got him rarely plays him, is he on the playing squad or not?

The man is a fraud. He has zero record of any achievement. i could go on but you get the point. For once can we get a manager with a record of achievement. maybe having won silverware over a few seasons.

Our best players will want out and no one will want to come here unless we pay the big bucks.

Lloris, Rose, Dier, Kane, Bentaleb and Eriksen will all want out, and who can blame them?

And by firing another manager, do you think that will help us to do better next season?.

We've fired mangers for much less than this utter shite we are watching. So why not. When are we going to act? wait until we are in the relegation dogmire?  It will be thus if we continue with this clown. Look, you can and only should retain a manager if he has EARNED the time. Beating Notts forest, Brighton, Sheffield and Newcastle  on way to the capital Cup final is not earning the time,  its literally a gimme.

Can anyone tell me what his philosophy is? I haven't a clue  and nor apparently do the players.

Totally agree with you, pile of shit, I hate the mug, why the fuck did levy get this goon, he has never achieved a thing in management, are we still a big club?

I don't think we are. This goes down as 1 of my worst seasons as a yid, watching us through the 80,s then 90,s seeing average teams but we had world class players and at times managers.

I actually hate us and apart from Hugo and Harry I would get rid of the lot of average shit that wear our shirt and for those younger fans who think Mason is actually a footballer, refer to hoddle Gascogne even Howells and Paul Stewart. They were players.

I think even without a manager the lads would do better. Seriously, I understand topper, cause even the biggest fan of Poch must have been frustrated watching the shit performance of yesterday. but at least I really would love to see what happens next season, when Poch gets the players he wants. Cause now he has Mitchell and there will be no excuse if he fails. I personally accept the fact that we have to say good bye to our top 4 ambitions.

For me Tim was the best so far. We've won two times against Soton last season under Tim, but Poch was the manager we signed! why? Only Levy knows!

Unlike Sherwood , Poch has been given a whole season to work with this club, so,if it isn't him, it's gotta be the players. Why Chiriches today I'll never know. But it's more then that, Eriksen, Lamela, and Mason looked really weak out there, never saw any of them win one challenge. Unless there's major positive changes during the off season I have little hope for next season as well.

Hang on though - this is practically the same side that beat Chelsea and Arsenal earlier in the season, with a high tempo pressing game all over the pitch.

I guess we've had a few players in and out with injuries, but we've been utter shite for last few months. What's happened? Is it burn out? The result of a Stupidly long season catching up with us I think.

Let's ship out the deadwood we are carrying in the squad, players who offer nothing in the Prem (Soldado, Capoue, Paulinho, Ade, Paulinho, Chiriches, maybe Andros and Lamela too) buy a few proven premier league performers (not too many), mix it with the quality younger players we've got and give Poch one more season to get it right.

It's a difficult to work out an oversize squad. Every game you have to leave somebody out. Players will just stop working for the manager. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes.

Obviously Vlad is a bad decision. He doesn't want to play. I thought the second yellow card is harsh but that's what we expect from Clatterburg. He is always against us.

The alternative is Yedlin who haven't play much or Rose who is probably not 100% after injury.

The players show a bit more desire after we are down to ten men.

Poch and Paul Mitchell haven't get anyone in yet. Fazio is not his choice. Poch stated that he wants to sign players with PL experiences. And Levy seems to admit that they created a mess when we spend all of the Bale money on 7 foreign players with no EPL experience.

But we're not giving a lot of time on the pitch to Paulinho, Adebayor , Soldado, Kaboul anyway and we're still losing. I've said this last year that we need more hard nosed type players, yes we've played a lot of matches this year, but that comes with the territory if you want to play Champions, or Europa league.

Mike - I think we over rely on a core group, as the other squad members really aren't good enough. That must be what Poch thinks!

Point taken, but when you play Champions, Europa , FA , you're going to go with your core group. For me it's the makeup of this team, too many of the same type. The only people I would say that are untouchable are Kane & LLoris not even Eriksen.

Mike - totally agree with that comment. Far too many of the same 'type' of player, especially in midfield. So when you sub someone on its not really a change of style, just an inferior similar player.

I am still impressed with our young talent - Kane, Rose, Bebtaleb and Mason have been good for the team these guys should only get better with more coaching. (I know Mason divides opinion amongst fans).

We've got more coming through and a new stadium in the works. I think we are set up to move forward, but we really need to get rid of some players and bring in a few quality performers.

To get back on topic of thread, what I'm saying is that I'm disappointed with the end of the season, but I do think we should give Poch (and his coaching/recruiting team) a chance, so one more summer and season for me!

I don't know what you exactly mean when you say we have too many of the same players?

What have Eriksen with Kane in common. Chadli with Kane. Chadli with Lamela, Kane with Soldado, Ade with Kane, Ade with Soldado, Lamela with Eriksen, Eriksen with Capoue, Capoue with Dembele, Paulinho with Dembele, Dembele with Mason, Mason with Bentaleb, Bentaleb with Stambouli, Faz with Vertonghen, Vertonghen with Vlad, Dier with Yedlin and so on.... Except that they are playing for the same club they can't be compared to each other. They are totally different.

The system of Pochettino is the same week by week and thats why we are predictable to our opponents! Long balls won't work for anybody who have an understanding for modern football, absolutely when you use a 4231, but against us it is working!

It's really the midfield I'm on about. I would say that Capoue, Stambouli, Bebtaleb, Mason and Paulinho are a similar 'type' of midfield player in our squad. None of them score goals, they aren't dangerous dribblers, they aren't dead ball specialists, they aren't creative playmakers with a huge range of passing. What they all do is break up play, run, tackle, make simple passes, track back and protect the back four. You need one or two players of this type in a squad - not five!

Bentaleb has been solid and dependable this season. Personally I think Mason has put a shift in too and I like his passion and commitment. We've hardly seen anything of Capoue or Stambouli, presumably they are either crap in training or Poch just thinks Mason and Bentaleb are better. Paulinho has been a total flop.

Agree Poch needs to change tactics but I do think the squad lacks balance overall. It's nothing that a summer shake-up can't sort out though.

Then why did Poch buy Stambouli ? He appears,  in the brief appearances, so far, to be no more offensive then what we already have. and the same 'type'. We were crying out for another striker or winger and he buys another midfielder???

Capoue was very good in the away game at Arsenal, but he's been totally bombed out. He a French international player FFS! I know all about the Kane mutiny and this would appear to have scuppered his chances at our club. Makes kaboul captain and Ade vice..then bombs them out too! Can Poch make a bloody right decision?

I've watched all our games in the entirety.  IMO only 3 games (epl) this season have been 'good' Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton. All the rest have been pretty dire, certainly not entertaining. The flaws I feel are very clear. No width, little creativity. So in January we buy Stambouli and let Lennon leave. Now I feel Lennon has been at the club long enough and maybe should be sold. However Martinez seems to be getting a tune out of him, so why didn't Poch?

This season we have lost to WBA 13th, Newcastle 17th, Crystal Palace 12th, Aston Villa 14th, Doubled by Stoke City who despite this 6 points still sit 9th.

We have drawn Burnley 19th and relegated, Crystal Palace 12th, West Ham 10th, Crystal Palace 12th and Sunderland 16th.

It took us 2 Legs to beat Burnley (relegated) and then lost to Leceister 15th in the FA Cup.

We advanced to the Capital Cup Final.  Taking two legs to beat Sheffield United and facing only one Premiership team along the way in 17th place Newcastle United.

We are indeed no longer a big club.  Where we go from here I don't know but I dare say any other year the Manager would be gone with these results.

Sherwood should have stayed.

Poch won't be sacked.... with the new stadium Danny boy will love the fact that a few youngsters have come through and will expect similar over the next 5-10 years whilst all our money is tied up in the stadium. Unfortunately it will be similar story next year. Who will buy the players we want to ship out??? They certainly wont pay what Danny boy values them at..

Champions League will not be the target at start of next season. Promoting another 2 youngsters to the first 16 will be.
