Argentinian head coach Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham in November of last year amidst a poor run of form, but he was a very popular manager with the Hotspur faithful. So, when 19-year-old son Maurizio pledged his future to the club alongside his father, it certainly struck a note with the fans.

How Spurs have fared since Poch’s departure

The North London club may not have won any trophies under the Argentine in his five-year tenure, but they are not exactly close to doing so under new boss Jose Mourinho. Spurs sit nearly double figures outside the top four and have exited the League and FA Cup as well as the Champions League. They play Everton next and are currently priced at 15/8 to win with gambling sites like https://www.cinemacasino.com/.

But, Tottenham have failed to break any pots under veteran entertainer Mourinho. In fact, in 28 games of the 2019/20 season so far, the Portuguese has helped steer Spurs to just 12 wins with six draws and ten losses. Bearing in mind that Pochettino guided the North London club to second-place finishes in the Premier League and the Champions League, and one could say that Spurs have not exactly improved and perhaps even regressed.

In the Argentinian’s last full season at the club, Spurs won 34 out of 58 games, with just four draws and 20 losses at a rate of 1.83 points-per-matches. Under Mourinho, the latter is just 1.5, with the best online casino sites offering odds of 10/1 for him to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked.

Will Pochettino junior get a chance?

Son Maurizio had looked likely to leave Tottenham given the departure of his father and the fact that his contract was set to expire in the upcoming days, but he put pen to paper to ensure the Poch legacy continues to reign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Since moving to London, the Barcelona-born winger joined Spurs’ academy full-time as a scholar in 2017.

Though he has yet to make a first-team appearance, the winger – who is eligible to play for both Argentina and Spain – is held in high regard at the club. But, with Mourinho’s harmful reputation of not bringing through enough youth players, it remains to be seen whether Maurizio will get a chance in the near future.

Poch senior’s love affair with Spurs continues

Having built a brilliant relationship with Spurs fans in his five-year tenure at the club, Pochettino senior sparked a remarkable reaction when he was pictured next to his son for his new contract photo sporting an official club t-shirt.

With some even commenting their love for the Argentine as well as some pleading for his return, it still – nearly a year on – remains to be seen whether chairman Daniel Levy made the right choice in sacking him.
