Spurs confirm player may have to undergo surgery

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that Ben Davies has suffered ligament damage to his left ankle.

The Welsh left-back picked up the injury during Saturday’s 3-2 win at West Ham United and had to be replaced by Danny Rose.

The extent of the injury was confirmed when the former Swansea player underwent further examinations and assessment.

Frustratingly for the Neath born product, his injury comes at a time when Danny Rose has struggled hugely with his form during the current campaign.

Spurs have revealed that the player may have to undergo surgery in the future but did not reveal how long he was likely to be out of action for, instead describing it as an extended period.

Davies’ absence could mean that recent signing Ryan Sessegnon is utilised at left back as competition for Rose.

Davies was spotted in the media mixed zone following the win against Olympiacos on Tuesday evening wearing a protective boot.
