Adebayor to train with development team

Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that Emmanuel Adebayor will train with Tottenham’s development team when he returns from compassionate leave next week.

The striker has been away from the Tottenham squad for a number of weeks following the death of his brother earlier this summer whilst we were taking part in the pre-season tournament in Hong Kong.

With Roberto Soldado and Jermain Defoe ahead of Adebayor in the pecking order – it remains to be seen if he still has a future at the club.

AVB told the press: “At the moment Ade is not with us. We have granted him authorisation to stay up until Monday in his country for personal reasons.

“He is not going to be involved against Norwich. Up to when I find it appropriate, he will train with the development team.”

Adebayor had been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane in the previous transfer window, with Besiktas said to be highly interested in the Togolese forward.
