AVB: Lamela is a natural talent

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is hopeful that Erik Lamela can add some creativity in the final third of the pitch.

We are yet to score from open play in the Premier League this season after Roberto Soldado has scored both goals from the penalty spot against Crystal Palace and Swansea City.

Lamela, who cost a club-record £26million will have the pressure on him to take up where Gareth Bale left off. The Welshman scored 26 goals for us last season.

The 21-year-old is expected to make his full Premier League debut against Norwich on Saturday.

“I think the qualities he brings are his creativeness, his ability to find the last pass that leads to a goal,” AVB told a press conference.

“He’s a natural talent. He’s not a pure winger; he’s creative and likes to come inside and find different spaces.

“He’s a player with tremendous potential that we have to work on.”
