AVB: Spurs are taking Europa League seriously

Andre Villas-Boas has vowed to do all he can to win the Europa League this season with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Spurs boss lifted the trophy with Porto and although his squad was stretched thin last season by fighting on two fronts, he plans to bring European glory to White Hart Lane once more.

Jan Vertonghen, Sandro and Aaron Lennon have all been left behind and are likely to feature against Swansea City at the Lane on Sunday instead.

“Last season we prioritised both competitions,” AVB told a press conference in Georgia.

“It’s the same objective this year.

This evening’s opponents, Dinamo Tbilisi are massive underdogs. Their squad is made up mostly of local players with the odd foreign import but club officials expect the Dinamo Arena to be close to its 54,000 capacity.

He added: “This play-off is an extremely difficult play-off. It can knock you out even before a taste of it has happened so we will pick a strong team.”
