CheekyCockney: Bale – Good Ridance

64

So Gareth Bale has finally gone, and although I expect to be in the minority, I say simply, Gareth Bale – glad you have gone.

With one of the longest transfer episodes on record, I said a long time back that Bale was just a mercenary like the rest of them, and so he is proved.

In a statement, he says that Tottenham will always be in his heart and also the Fans. Yes the ‘Fans’ he turned his back on and at the end treated us like dirt. Two weeks ago he basically goes on strike and doesn’t turn up to the training ground as ordered by the Club. He said he respected the club and the fans. What an INSULT. He cares not one jot about our club, and even less about our beloved fans. Had he have said right from the start about what he wanted, at least we would all have known. I said in my last article that his silence spoke volumes, and then finally we hear what we all knew. He didn’t want to wear the Spurs shirt ever again and wanted to leave, even spending the weekend in Spain trying to push through the transfer instead of being with his team mates and being at White Hart Lane.

So like most of the others, the mercenary Bale should be hounded by our fans out of the club. I certainly don’t want any player at our Club who doesn’t want to wear the shirt. He is now not worthy to be called a Tottenham legend, most of the people i know now dislike him immensely. Sol Campbell (although we didn’t get a fee for him) did much the same, but his sin was worse by moving to our bitter rivals. Modric also, all mercenaries in their own shallow way.

Yes Bale is a top class player, Yes we will miss his skills, and Yes he has given us 2 or so years of excitement, yet what about the first few years when he gave us nothing and we could never win with him in the team.

I say, I’m glad we took the money and run, we dont need the likes of him (mercenaries) at our club.

So certainly from me, and to be honest most of the people I know, we say GOOD RIDANCE Gareth Bale

    • Don't agree with the mercenary tag. EVERY professional is a mercenary in a sense — assuming they take money as the main recompense for their services. Beware of players who say, "Golly gee, I love the club so much I'd play for nothin'!" How many Bobby Charltons or Ryan Giggs can you count these days, spending 15 years at one club? Clubs are quick to profit off a player if they can, so what's the point of one-way loyalty? I've noticed too that once the writing is on the wall, players are very, very reluctant to be shamed by go back to training with the "old" club — You would be treated like a dead-man-walking, a former mate. I've seen, and experienced, the same phenomenon even going in and out of attendance at a school — no one wants to bond closely with you again.

  1. he didnt go on strike, Tottenham didnt want him part of traning because they knew he was going which is why we went ahead and spent 100million on other players. Tottenham knew the whole time he was leaving.

    • What the fuck are you on Pretoria. You should'nt have said anything in the first place. You are an utter prick. And after what AVB said today, you should be apologising to Cheeky, but better still, just piss off the site.

  2. He was offered 10 million a year. I reckon most of us wouldvhavevtaken that deal. No need to be bitter. Thank you Mr Bale. Now, thanks to his brilliance we have a much stronger team. We are better without him than we were with him

  3. Totally disagree with you on this. He gave us 6 years and is the world record breaking transfer player, won all the awards in the premiership and will win more trophies in the future with Real. I'm proud he was a Spurs player. He's given Tottenham more press coverage because of the transfer saga.

Sometimes people move on. We got a new, stronger, deeper squad out of the situation so everyone got what they wanted. You should be more positive. Football is big business and you got to get the most out of any situation.

    • So agree.
Bale has left us with a legacy.
Built with the over inflated fee we received.
When it all goes tits up in 2 seasons , he returns as the prodagol son.
Hope this doesn't happen for him, but look at Kaka.
He'll always be welcome at the Lane.
      Good luck Gareth,.

    • I totally agree,he's been magnificent for us & given us great publicity around the world.Let's wish him & his young family all the very best for the future. We've got a great sqaud out of it & the future of Spurs looks very good.

  4. Poor….very poor. We got a world record fee for a top draw player who lit up the lane for a good couple of years. I wish him all the best an hope when he does come back he gets a decent reception an doesnt get booed by a muppet like you.

    Such a small minded mentality.

    • You prick Lee. After what AVB said today, you should be making an Apology to Cheeky. He was proved right, and made your statement look pathetic – as you probably are.

  5. Whereas I agree with your sentiments, I think that Bale’s attitude is the norm

these days. I was also born in 1957 and say the first game in the 62/63 season.

  6. Poor….very poor. We got a world record fee for a top draw player who lit up the lane for a good couple of years. I wish him all the best an hope when he does come back he gets a decent reception an doesnt get booed by a muppet like you.

  7. Seeing Bale kiss the Real Madrid badge earlier today I did feel it was shamelessly hollow and ridiculous and probably did make him seem like a mercenary.

However I disagree largely with hating him for moving and I feel he will go down in our history as probably one of the most important players we've ever had. I feel this not only for what he did on the pitch, but for the fact that his sale has allowed us to strengthen with superb talent in various areas of the pitch. It may not have gone well on Sunday but we have got, in particular, two incredible young talents in Eriksen and Lamela (both 21) and they will both do great things, as will our other signings.

    • He was told to that.
Made him look a fool, keepy uppies were sh/ t as well.
      Total circus.
When do we tell new signings to parade around the pitch, juggling and doing tricks.
Joke club, joke country………….85 million, 300 k a week and 25% of Spain are unemployed. !!!!

  8. You're having a laugh mate, the money has allowed Levy and AVB to restructure and rebuild the team into a unit that can realistically challenge the cash chavs. Even so, we will miss one of the best players on the planet. When someone walks into your life and offers you a 400% rise for the same job, then when you turn it down call me. You can't expect these players who grew up supporting other clubs to love your club in the same way that you do, at least BAE was honest about it. Good luck Gareth, thanks for the goals, see ya in three years when we beat madrid in the Champions league final!

  9. Mercenary? Every one of our players would sell their own grandma to play for Real Madrid, including Spurs supporting Andros Townsend. And you know you would too.

56 years old and you've got your panties in a bunch like a teenaged girl.

  10. Spot on Football is a money go round . We got good money for a great player and he get's his dream move and we get 7 new players that are better players than we had. Everybody wins. Except the fans who pay the bills. We want the best we pay for it, Simples

  11. Yes mercenary, but what are we to expect these days? we got good cash for him and and least we spent it on building a real team. Good luck to him, but I wont be shedding any tears

  12. We owe everything to bale. We have just bought a 3rd of a squad with his sale. And lets face it, he's gone to a team with a 50% chance of winning a league title and he's got slightly improved wages. He owes us nothing. Good luck to him. Wish him all the best. Even le tiss would have left southampton for those wages and title chances.

  13. Ajax tv made a farewell video compilation for Erikson leaving for us. Touch of class – check it out on 101goals website. Bale on the other hand gets abused for leaving – we all want bigger and better things. Bale stayed one or two years longer than he could have – but he gave Spurs a chance and now we got rewarded with £86m lol. Bale is class – good luck to him! COYS

  14. a few of you argue we'd leave or take a job for that kinda money… really? are you all that greedy considering you were already earning shed loads of dosh and set for a bumper new contract with a tonne load more dosh, nahhhh i agree for a different reason, the little twat didnt leave for money he left so he could spend his days surfing in sunny spain… butthole surfing ronaldos ass that is…rim jobbing his portugese bumhole… i bet bale used to wank over his life size posters of Europes largest Ego since a young welsh sheep shagger… bales a twat… ronaldos a twat… *ching*ching* Tottenhams coffers… Bales a weirdo and a fool, not cos he left for money, he didnt, hes just plain odd… did u see him in the ronnie fashion of late to the point of wearing viktorian ladies swimwear??? bale would be better suited to placing welsh sheeps in ronaldo jersys and taking it from there…. i wonder how ronaldo and his ego will enjoy having a stupid fawning deciple licking his ass, toes and probably boots… dear mr bale, you lost all dignity.

  15. Nah this is wrong. I’m happy for the guy. How many of us get to live our dreams? Be happy for the memories that Bale gave us and the money that he’s given the club by his sale. Nothing is forever and life goes on.

  16. Numpty article. As a Spurs fan it saddens me to see someone so bitter with such a lack of understanding of the situation. You look at it from a selfish perspective without even contemplating that he has both earned his opportunity to represent what is admittedly the most prestigious club in world football and revitalised our team in doing so. Get a grip and appreciate it. Clueless

    • You prick Phil. After what AVB said today, you should be making an Apology to Cheeky. He was proved right, and made your statement look pathetic – as you probably are.

  17. Numpty article. As a Spurs fan it saddens me to see someone so bitter with such a lack of understanding of the situation. Get a grip and appreciate it. Clueless. JFC….you’re a muppet. Sort your life out

  18. Bale was brilliant and simply outgrew us. He has so much talent and skill and wants to test himself at the highest level. he moved from Southampton to Spurs to raise his game so he could go to the next level and to be honest we are not at Real Madrids level "yet" although we hope to be soon, and now he has left us to be with the galaticos from across the world. I personally thank him not only for the amazing football we have been privileged to see but also the financial legacy he has left us, So Gareth I salute you and wish you the best of luck mate and I bet most spurs supporters would agree. COYS

  19. Sad article. Bale is a Spurs legend. Played more game for Spurs than Gazza and I bet you don't hate Gazza. I am gutted he moved on but it is a dream move for him and I'm just glad he didn't leave to join another EPL team. Just be happy for him even though it hurts. We are lucky to have seen a player that good playing for Spurs – every fan of every other team in the EPL were so envious and afraid that we had him in our team. I certainly will wish him all the best – He seems like a good guy. ps When you write an article please spell check your heading as it makes you look an arse!

    • What an 18 carrott gold prat you really are Steve. It's not teh article thats sad, it's you. And regarding calling someone an arse, it takes one to know one.

    • Shame Steve you had to spoil your blikered response by calling Cheeky an arse. Perhaps as you are so gutted you should fuck off to Spin to be with your beloved Bale.

  20. Well said. ALL players are the same now. Its what football has sadly become. Lost my faith when we sold VDV and appointed the twat as manager.

  21. I reckon he should have at least continued playing until the transfer went through, that's what really pissed me off about him. We could have really done with him against the Arsenal, and those lost 3 points could come back to haunt us at end of season…..

If he was still on the books and we were still paying him his salary he should have been in a shirt on the pitch or sue his arse!!!

    • You prick Aussie. After what AVB said today, you should be making an Apology to Cheeky. He was proved right, and made your statement look pathetic – as you probably are.

    • What a prize prick you are Aussie. After what AVB said to the press yesterday, you should be apologising to Cheeky as he was proved absolutely right. And your age, 3..?

  22. The funniest thing in all this is knowing we've well and truly mugged Real Madrid. I watched BT Sport last night and they did a transfer report on a player value calculator (independent form BT Sport). This takes into consideration the players age, how many goals they have scored, cups won and personal awards (such as player of the year) and several other factors. Also taken into account is the money the player will generate against what their wage/bonus structure is/shirt sales, etc, etc.

Anyway… Read it and weep Real Madrid, LMAO…

Messi £184M – 4 world player of the year awards, CL medals, LL winner, hundreds of goals etc.

Ronaldo £87M – he's older than Messi and hasn't won the CL with RM.

Bale £44M – Although only 24 yrs old, he's only won player of the year once, no EPL/CL medals etc.

All Bale has to do now is win the world player of the year at least twice, get more than 4 CL and 6 LL winners medals (plus a few domestic cup wins) and over 200 goals in about 205 games, then he'll be worth what RM paid for him.

    Good luck with that, boy-oh.

    • What a complete fucking idiot you are Matt. If there is a SHIT FAN then it's YOU. In fact you must be the Gooner in disguise. Just piss off and get away from OUR site.

    • You prick Matt. After what AVB said today, you should be Apologising to Cheeky as he has been proved absolutely right. Makes you look pretty pathetic, which i imagine you are.

  24. WELL SAID CHEEKY. It is so lovely to have someone who says it as it is, speaks his mind, and does'nt follow others like sheep. I agree with everything you say about Bale, and i too am glad – as the photo – to see the back of him.

  25. Cheeky, It is indeed great to hear someone who speaks straight from the hip. Regardless of what others who dont agree on the site, i think i speak for many many people who think the same way as you and are also glad the saga is over and say good ridance to Bale. We have bought some 5 or 6 players of genuine quality for what we got for him, and as you say, No-One at Tottenham wants a player who does'nt want to wear the shirt, and Bale certainly did'nt want to as he made clear. Well done, and keep up the good work.

  26. Wow, my first time on the site, and great to hear someone who is so refeshing, up front, and honest in their views. I completely agree 100% with everything you say about Gareth Bale. He certainly is a mercenary who is now hated by many (although still loved by others), but i cant understand anyone who would still like him after the way he has treated the club and the fans, and i take it personally. I now have an unwanted Bale shirt i only got at the end of teh season – anyone want to buy it ??

  27. Bale was a Real Madrid supporter as a kid and gave the Spurs his all, just be grateful Bale graced the lane and got us £75 million profit, the lad has nothing to be sorry for so stop being a muppet and except that Bale has followed his dreams and got us a nice transfer kitty. COYS

    • You prick Matt. After what AVB said today, you should be Apologising to Cheeky as he has been proved absolutely right. Makes you look pretty pathetic muppet, which i imagine you are.

  28. A great article Cheeky, and it's a shame that those who dont agree with you cant see the wood for the trees. I am i absolute agreement with you. Bale has let us down big time, why cant everyone else see it. Those who wish him well might as well emigrate to madrid to be with him. As Cheeky said, Bale gave us possibly 2 good years – that means he gave us 4 mediocre years. Personally i dont wish any mercenaries well. I'm with a lot of spurs fans – Good Riddance Gareth Bale

  29. Great article, and as others have said, shame some on here are so blinkered. Of course bale wanted what was best for him, but there are ways of doing it, and he did it completely wrong. He should have been 'up front' right from the start and said the right things. But he went 'ON STRIKE'. How can any Loyal Spurs fan ever forgive him for the way he treated us. All this 'nice guy' stuff is bollocks. He is the same as all the other toe rags who dont want to wear the Spurs shirt. I agree, Good Ridance

  30. I will miss watching bale, but the money we got for him has made the Spurs much stronger. We should thank him for the goals he scored last season, without them we would have been mid table at best.

  31. Bale is no mercenary. We made £80 mil on the bloke. Levy completed the business he wanted and dangled RM on a piece of string until it suited him. Bale dug us out of a hole a good few times last season unfortunately we didn't have the right caliber of players around him to push on to the next level. We now have, courtesy of Bale, a team that given a few games will show all the shitc¥nts in the media and that fucking scum down the road that we are going to crash the party. Mercenaries operate on both sides you know

  32. I actually agree 100% with Cheeky. Bale is a mercenary, and i like so many other fans dont want someone who does'nt want to wear the shirt at WHL. Bale has only said nice things since he's gone. He should have said them from the start if he was genuine. I hate Bale now, and hope he fails miserably in Madrid.

  33. Haha

Gareth Bale and Judas Sol are the same.

Tell me, does anyone seriously believe Judas Bale would not have walked out on a free if he had the chance?

Think that through before hurling pathetic abuse at well thought out articles.

  34. Well, Cheeky you have been proved right yet again. Today i read (and also on the SpursWeb) that AVB has come out and said Bale made it all incredibly difficult. To all the arseholes on here that have had a go at Cheeky, every single one of you should send him an Apology. Obviously you wont, but when your own club manager says what he has and has proved what Cheeky said was spot on, all those that had a go at him should be ashamed of themselves. Absolutely fantastic Cheeky, keep up the good work.

  35. You prick Steve. After what AVB said today, you should be making an Apology to Cheeky. He was proved right, and made your statement look like an ARSE – as you probably are.
