A busy day for Tottenham as Eriksen deal is confirmed

Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Christian Eriksen from Ajax in a reported deal worth £11.5m.

Eriksen becomes the third player today to join the White Hart Lane ranks, following in the footsteps of Vlad Chiriches and Erik Lamela in what has been a massive transfer window and statement of ambition from the club. Credit must go to Levy and Baldini.

The Denmark international moved to Ajax in 2008 & has since gone on to play a total of 161 games for the Eredivisie club scoring 33 times

Capped 37 times by his country, Eriksen enjoyed great success in Amsterdam, winning three consecutive Dutch league championships 2011-13

  1. These players could have been unveiled already I think they’ve bundled then together to give the fans a big high before the low either tonight or tomorrow of bale going. Personally I’m glad it’s nearly over with bring on Monday! (And Sunday of course :)

    • Good point, but to be honest we've all been on a high from the first four signings. This is the icing on the cake with a cherry to boot.
Still a rumpour there is one more to come.
      Left back anyone?

  2. Just hope this doesn't turn out to be an embarressment of riches. We do look a bit oversubscribed in midfield, which suggests someone will go either on loan or permanently. I hope AVB can quickly settle on his first choice team and they quickly gel so we can mount a real challenge on the Premiership. I am still concerned about our attacking options and we seem a bit thin for full back cover unless Jan, Younes or Vlad are willing to cover if needed. Hope this is really the start of something rather than another false dawn.

  3. I don’t know about “the low” of the Bale deal. We’ve been waiting for the Bale deal to be announced for a while now. I’d say most fans are used to it and to a degree, looking forward to it so we can get on with our season. The club have played a blinder in this and I salute the lot of them. I even wish Bale well and hope it works out for him in Spain. However, I’d love Madrid to collapse financially and end up in ruin. The way they operate is a disgrace and need to be held accountable.

  4. First team:

Lloris; Walker, Kaboul, Vertonghen, Coentrao (?); Sandro, Paulinho, Eriksen; Lamela, Soldado, Chadli.

    Second team:

Friedel; Naughton, Dawson, Chiriches, Rose; Capoue, Dembele, Holtby; Townsend, Defoe, Lennon.

Pretty damn impressive! I couldn’t even imagine a better summer!

  5. i wonder what AVB says to levy last season,i cannot believe in can spend money like water.
    Thanks levy,avb,Baldini.
    como on spurs.

  6. There are still rumours of possibly another 2 new signings coming in before Monday, a left back and another striker, which is great news, you need 4 top strikers to make a bid for the title :-)

On the Bale front, I'm very disappointed in his actions this summer, he's always been a humble, down to earth, team player but for whatever reason he has seriously let himself down this summer, he needs to remember how much Spurs have done for him to make him the player that Madrid want so badly. It's a shame he has to leave on such a sour note!

    • It was obvious bale was going to go. Last season he changed. He had gone from a down to earth lad to a big time charlie (that ronaldo style stance for freekicks he suddenly developed). Spurs are bigger than bale and will be fine without him
