VIDEO: Dempsey speaks on shock Tottenham exit

Clint Dempsey has spoke on Monday about his unexpected move from Tottenham Hotspur to MLS side the Seattle Sounders.

The American international spent just 12 months at Tottenham following his £6million move across London from Fulham and did not expect to leave White Hart Lane this season.

Dempsey’s move made for huge news back in his homeland, while AVB continues to overhaul his squad before the end of the summer transfer window.

He told the interview: “You know I had two years left on my contract at Tottenham. To be honest with you, going back to preseason I thought I was going to be there but I guess it was just timing and just the right situation came along and MLS and the Seattle Sounders, they moved mountains to get me back and I’m excited about coming back when I’m in my prime. I knew that I was gonna come back, it was just a matter of when really. I wanted to come back when I could still do it. I didn’t want to come back when I was past it cause I want to come back and make an impact so I’m looking forward to that – getting on the field and playing good soccer and creating chances, scoring goals and trying to help this team Seattle Sounders win an MLS Cup.”
