Gomes keen on PSV return, but no approach yet

Heurelho Gomes is still a Tottenham Hotspur player and as of yet there has been no approach from his former side PSV Eindhoven.

The Brazilian keeper is now in his final year of his contract and with him having no chance of jumping above Hugo Lloris or Brad Friedel in the pecking order, you’d think that Daniel Levy would be looking to ship him out to claw back some money rather than see him leave on a free this time next year.

Gomes’ agent has clarified that there has been no approach, however he would welcome a move back to his former side. A loan to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim was going well last season until he broke his hand – which could have scuppered the chance of a permanent move.

He will travel with the rest of the Spurs squad to Hong Kong next week to take part in the Barclays Asia Trophy.

“Heurelho had a fantastic and victorious history at PSV. He experienced the best time of his career there. To date he still receives messages, letters etc… from the PSV fans,” Soares told Sky Sports.

“Heurelho is a Tottenham player and he is under contract.

“I can confirm that we have not received any official offer or contact from PSV in relation to Heurelho’s return.

“Maybe the rumours around his move to PSV is due to his previous years at the club and the PSV fans’ wishes.

“I am sure that if PSV want him back, Gomes’ decision will be very easy to take.”
