Former Spur retires at 30

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Ahmed ‘Mido’ Hossam has decided to hang up his boots.

The Egyptian international who is 30 decided to pack it in after being without a club since January when he departed Championship outfit Barnsley after making just one appearance.

Mido joined us on an 18-month loan deal in January 2005 and scored a brace on his debut against Portsmouth. After a successful loan spell he made the move permanent in August in a €6.75 million deal from Roma. He didn’t manage to find the same success in front of goal after signing his permanent deal and was sold to Middlesbrough in August 2007.
