Redknapp: Carroll is a future England international

Harry Redknapp expects Tom Carroll to become a top player after the Tottenham midfielder completed a season-long loan switch to QPR.

Redknapp gave Carroll his debut at Tottenham and the 21-year-old will now gain first-team football experience with the Loftus Road club.

Everyone at Tottenham has massive hopes for Carroll, and at one stage it had looked as if he would be joining Dutch giants Ajax on loan. It’s great that Carroll will be able to continue his footballing education close to home and hopefully come back to Spurs next season ready to hold down a first-team place.

Redknapp told the official QPR site: “He’s a player I fully expect to go to the very top of the game – he’s a future England international,”

“I played him at Spurs in Europe and he was fantastic for me. He’s got all the attributes to be a top, top player.

“He can pass, he can create, he can score goals – he’s a fantastic player and I’m confident he’ll flourish here for us.”
