Redknapp: Carroll is a future England international

Harry Redknapp expects Tom Carroll to become a top player after the Tottenham midfielder completed a season-long loan switch to QPR.

Redknapp gave Carroll his debut at Tottenham and the 21-year-old will now gain first-team football experience with the Loftus Road club.

Everyone at Tottenham has massive hopes for Carroll, and at one stage it had looked as if he would be joining Dutch giants Ajax on loan. It’s great that Carroll will be able to continue his footballing education close to home and hopefully come back to Spurs next season ready to hold down a first-team place.

Redknapp told the official QPR site: “He’s a player I fully expect to go to the very top of the game – he’s a future England international,”

“I played him at Spurs in Europe and he was fantastic for me. He’s got all the attributes to be a top, top player.

“He can pass, he can create, he can score goals – he’s a fantastic player and I’m confident he’ll flourish here for us.”

Have something to tell us about this article?

  1. Very disappointed he's going to be playing in the Championship: I'd have preferred him to get CL experience and first class coaching at Ajax rather than "fackin' run abaht a bit" from dear old 'Arry.

  2. AVB is a disgrace for letting this happen. Tom Carroll is far too good for the championship. He is one of the best players at Spurs and should already be playing in the first team. Spurs have no creativity in midfield and Tom Carroll would provide that. Completely ridiculous management decision.

  3. Totally agree what a great talent, when we sorely need a play maker we ship one out. Lets hope he comes back an even better player.
