VIDEO: Villas-Boas discusses Bale transfer saga

Tottenham Hotspur trained on Wednesday morning, ahead of the second leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off against Dinamo Tbilisi – with the Gareth Bale transfer saga the main topic in the afternoon’s press conference.

AVB told the press conference: “At the moment, the two clubs are speaking – Tottenham and Real Madrid – to outline the…. final statement and drafts of contracts. I’m not sure how much time it’s going to take. So, (it) can happen very, very soon, might not happen so soon. So, I suppose it could even go to the last day (of the Summer transfer window), could happen in the next two days. I’m not sure.”

“I’m not sure, you know. I gave the player the weekend off. Monday was a day off for the squad. Obviously he’s involved in a big transfer move to…. Real Madrid. In the end, if it happens we wish him all the best. What he left here is great memories and…. the fact that he hasn’t turned up, I don’t think it’s the correct behaviour, but in the end it’s a position of pressure and a statement from the player, whatever that means, but it’s the position they (Bale and his agents) chose to take. It’s up to the club (Tottenham) now to decide if it’s a finable offence.”
