£17m Spurs exit for defender this week

Kevin Wimmer has been a player in limbo for the majority of the summer as his Tottenham days are close to coming to an end.

The Austrian defender publicly stated back in July that he was ready to leave the club in order to play regular first-team football elsewhere having played just 15 Premier League games since signing from Cologne for £4.3million two years ago.

Wimmer has had to wait patiently for his Tottenham exit with the club wanting to have a replacement confirmed before he departs. Davinson Sanchez has already arrived, but it looks as if Juan Foyth will also be a Spurs player in a matter of days.

Stoke look to the the likely destination of Wimmer and are preparing a £17million offer as they look to fend off competition from Crystal Palace and West Brom. A move to West Brom looked to be on the cards, but apparently Tony Pulis wanted Wimmer to play left-back which put him off a move the Baggies.

Wimmer did a fantastic job filling in for an injured Jan Vertonghen a couple of seasons ago, and deserves to be playing regular football at the age of 24.

Would you be sad to see Wimmer go?
