Agent claims Spurs and Arsenal are both monitoring midfielder’s situation

Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are both said to be keen on Monaco midfielder Aleksandr Golovin, the player’s agent has revealed.

The 22-year-old only made the move to Ligue 1 from CSKA Moscow last July for an undisclosed fee when he penned a five-year contract (BBC).

During last summer’s World Cup, he started four games and scored one goal as Russia made it through their group and then knocked out 2010 world champions Spain in the last 16.

He had been linked with Chelsea, Juventus and Barcelona before joining Monaco as a replacement for Joao Moutinho who signed for Premier League newcomers Wolves (Eurosport).

Tottenham are keen to bolster their midfield options following the January departure of Mousa Dembele to China while Victor Wanyama and Eric Dier have both had injury-hit campaigns.

Golovin prefers to operate in a more attacking role but struggled to adapt to life at his new club which was not helped by an ankle injury that saw him miss the opening month of the season.

According to Russian news outlet Nevasport, his agent Sandor Varga has claimed that Arsenal and Tottenham are monitoring his situation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Monaco have had a season to forget having found themselves flirting with relegation for the vast majority of the season and currently find themselves in 17th place.
