Agent rubbishes rumour linking Champions League winner to Tottenham

Reports last night emerged claiming that Tottenham Hotspur were interested in bringing Gareth Bale back to North London ahead of the new season.

Spanis news outlet Marca claimed that Real Madrid are keen to offload the Welshman which has sparked interest from Spurs.

The report claimed that Spurs were willing to pay between €50m and €60m to land Bale and may only be able to afford half of what he currently earns.

Bale is said to earn a reported £600,000 a week with the La Liga giants and still has three years left to run on his existing contract (Express).

However, this morning the 30-year-old’s agent Jonathan Barnett has moved to squash the speculation.

Barnett was asked for his take on the rumour by talkSPORT and declined to appear on the radio station and instead issued a very brief statement which read: “I don’t comment on rubbish.”

Bale arrived in Madrid from Spurs in 2013 for what was then a world record £86million fee and despite winning four Champions League titles with Los Blancos, he has found himself out of favour under Zinedine Zidane.
