Alan Shearer lavishes praise on Spurs player after 3-0 Champions League win

Tottenham Hotspur have one foot in the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League after a memorable night under the lights at Wembley Stadium against Borussia Dortmund.

Three second half goals have given Mauricio Pochettino’s side a huge advantage ahead of the second leg which takes place in Germany on March 5th.

The away side had the better opportunities during the opening 45 minutes, but the second half was the polar opposite.

Spurs wasted no time in going ahead through man of the moment Heung-min Son, but it was Man of the Match Jan Vetonghen who doubled the home side’s lead.

Substitute Fernando Llorente nodded in a late third to send Spurs into dreamland.

Equally importantly was the fact that the home side held their nerve and did not concede any away goals, meaning that Dortmund need to score four goals as the result currently stands to progress.

Former Premier League striker Alan Shearer praised the performance of Jan Vertonghen and the rest of the players.
