Alderweireld replacement lined up by Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur will potentially raid Toby Alderweireld’s former club to sign his replacement.

Alderweireld is expected to leave Tottenham this summer after failing to agree a new contract extension with the club, with some reports claiming the Belgian is demanding over £150,000-a-week.

Mauricio Pochettino has targeted Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt as a long-term replacement and is valued at around £45million by the Dutch club.

At 18, de Ligt has already made over 50 appearances for the former European champions and is also on the radar of Arsenal and Barcelona.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Tottenham have raided Ajax, having already signed de Ligt’s former defensive team-mate Davinson Sanchez last summer for £42million.  Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen also arrived at Spurs from the Amsterdam outfit.

There has also been speculation in the press that Alderweireld is a target for Chelsea.  We would be absolutely crazy to sell him to a Premier League rival.  If he leaves, he needs to be shipped off to a foreign club.

  1. Pity Toby is so greedy but life go`s on this young man will he be able to hit the ground running that`s the thing big time football want it wait`s for no man its instant spectacular and consistency that the money men and owners want £45,000,000 for Toby should pay for a decent replacement .

  2. If Chelsea or Utd get Toby in the summer levy resign immediately look what happened selling walker to city strengthen them and leaving us with bang average fullbacks.the only message that would sends out is 1 we ain’t going to pay our top players the going rate, 2 next eriksen, Kane, alli will be sold when they looking for big contracts.3 what message is sending to our rivals??? There still a selling club.

  3. De Ligt would be a great signing for us, I seen him play for Ajax for all this season he has got great skill on the ball, and he can score goals as well, he can take the ball from one end of the pitch to the other, and he can defend and pass a ball well, Bayern Munich tried to buy him in the transfer window in the winter, I just hope this is not just here say.
