Alli’s wonder strike not his first of the season

Dele Alli produced a goal-of-the-season contender in Tottenham’s 3-1 win at Crystal Palace on Saturday and it was not the first time he has showcased his goalscoring talents this season.

Near the edge of the area Christian Eriksen headed Harry Kane’s cross to Alli, and despite him appearing to have few options the 19-year-old took one touch to control possession, another to flick it over Mile Jedinak, and with the third – after turning the midfielder – powerfully volleyed into the bottom left corner.

It gave Spurs the lead in the 83rd minute and was his sixth goal of the season for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Here are some of the other impressive strikes Alli has produced this season.

Tottenham 3 Aston Villa 1, 2 November

Alli struck on the verge of half-time to put Tottenham 2-0 up against Villa. When Danny Rose’s cross was headed clear to Alli on the edge of the area, he teed it up with his first touch before firing a low volley through a crowd of players into the bottom corner.

England 2 France 0, 17 November

In the white shirt of England instead of Tottenham, Alli scored his first international goal in a friendly against France which came in the wake of the Paris terror attacks. Receiving the ball off Wayne Rooney, the midfielder advanced towards the penalty area before letting fly with a swerving shot, which took the slightest of deflections and sailed into the top corner.

Everton 1 Tottenham 1, 3 January

A moment of brilliance brought Tottenham level just before half-time in a 45 minutes they had heavily dominated at Goodison Park. Latching on to Eric Dier’s long ball, Alli displayed superb chest control on the run before fizzing in a low first-time volley from 16 yards that nestled in the bottom corner.
